The answer is “Yes” you should. Unlike other software and antivirus programs, you should regularly update your WordPress website. If a new release of WordPress is out, we recommend that you upgrade. These new releases often include new and improved features and fixes.

Website security is improved substantially by updating to the current version of WordPress, and updating WordPress plugins, potentially saving your site from hackers and malicious code attacks. Sometimes, it even affects your page ranking position with Google Search results. Updating WordPress Plugins is also very much important, it should be done as parallel to updating WordPress.

There’s a lot of reasons people end up neglecting this website maintenance, but it still needs to be done. If not by the site owners themselves, by someone in their organization, or by someone hired to do this task on a regular basis.
